Ducted Air Conditioner Repair, Cleaning and Maintenance
The Project
We installed this ducted aircon system several years ago. The unit was still under warranty and the client also opted into a service and clean contract. This client had noticed a leak from the conduit piping.
Also as part of the service contract, we made a general maintenance and service check of the AC.
Project Details
- Client – Residential
- Property Type – Two Storey Residential Home
- Location – Merewether, NSW
- Task -Routine maintenance service, repair and clean of the ducted air conditioner
The Solution
Repairing the Air Conditioner
This two-storey home has 3 bedrooms, and large living areas that extend from the open-plan kitchen. The ducted air conditioner is piped into every room. Over time some of the connecting pipes can develop some small issues that are easily fixed.
Once we inspected where the water was leaking we found that the 20mm elbow to the 25mm conduit was the cause. To alleviate the problem of the water flow we added a second drainage pipe.
Cleaning the Air Conditioner Filters
What to look for when inspecting an air conditioner
When inspecting an air conditioner, several key aspects warrant attention to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Begin by examining the air filters, as dirty filters can impede airflow and strain the system. Clearing or replacing filters regularly enhances efficiency.
Inspect the evaporator and condenser coils for dirt buildup, as this hinders heat exchange. Ensure that the coil fins are straight and unobstructed for optimal heat transfer. Examine the refrigerant levels to guarantee they align with the manufacturer’s specifications, as inadequate levels can diminish cooling capacity. Check for any refrigerant leaks, manifested by oily spots or hissing sounds. Inspect the thermostat settings to ensure accurate temperature control and assess the electrical components for signs of wear or damage.
Lastly, scrutinise the overall system for unusual noises, vibrations, or inconsistent cooling. Regular maintenance and attention to these details can significantly prolong the life of your air conditioner while maintaining efficient operation.
