The Solution
Firstly, we removed the hinged frame and then we slid out the air filter. With a combination of safe chemical solutions and a vacuum cleaner, we set about clearing all the lint, dust and micro-fibres that had covered the entire filter. Then we washed down the unit removing the dirt and tiny leaves and twigs that had gathered on or near the a/c unit. We then checked that all the electrical connections were in good safe working order.
Once the filter was dry we slid it back into position.
Why is it important to clean air conditioner filters?
If you want your air conditioner to run efficiently and circulate healthy air then cleaning your unit is important. Ducted air conditioners circulate air throughout the entire house. Ducted air starts from the indoor unit and then blows air through the vents. Over time the filter will gather lint and dust which forces the aircon unit to work harder in blowing the air through the vent. Also, the air is not as clean which can create health issues.
A simple routine cleaning service will save money on the electricity bill and the life of the unit will last longer.
