Inspect, Repair and Service Hitachi Split System Air Conditioner
The Beresfield Service Project: The call came to our helpdesk from the resident informing us that their air conditioner controller on/off button was flashing red and the air conditioner had stopped working.
Project Details
- Client – Residential
- Property Type – Single-storey residential brick veneer house
- Location – Beresfield, NSW
- Task – Inspect, repair and service Hitachi split system air conditioner
The Solution
A time to inspect the air conditioner was arranged and we visited the premises. A flashing on/off button generally indicates that it is time to clean the filter. There could be other issues which is why a full test is required to isolate the problem accurately.
Testing the air conditioner for faults
The first task was to check the filters. The filters had become blocked with dust. This was one reason that caused the remote controller to flash. We then pressure tested the unit and found no issues. Finally, we tested all the electrical power and also found no issues. Valley Air Conditioning employs fully certified electricians. The issue lay solely with the filter. As you can see in the image the filter was blocking the airflow.
Servicing the air conditioner filter
We removed the filter and used a hose to blow off all the dust that had weaved its way around all the filter outlets. Finally, with some warm water and soap, we cleaned the filter.
Once the filter was clean we reattached it back into its place and tested the air conditioner. As expected the flashing red light on the controller stopped. The air conditioner was now back to running at its optimum.
